What was suppose to be a nice evening flight home with Beth turned into an exciting return to Vegas flight. Shortly after reaching cruise ~9,500 and just as we were settling in for a nice flight home, the entire instrument panel and avionics went dead. I checked the circuit breakers and the alternator breaker had popped. We managed to hold it in long enough to boot up the avionics again and call Nellis to say we needed to return back to Vegas. Turns out the alternator died and tripped a relay to take down the entire avionics stack.
